The inadvertent expatriate blogger behind Clear Field Tune

Hi there, I'm Sophie
I work as a project manager, I’m a parent, and I’m an expat living in Zurich, Switzerland.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually opened a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Switzerland wasn’t part of our long-range plan. Like many international moves, it started as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something far bigger.
The first months were intense — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and much learning by doing. But gradually routine took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Clear Field Tune
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation guidance or superficial tourism content. What was missing was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to close that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Switzerland.
What this site represents (and what it doesn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on experience from life in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Switzerland continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sophie
